Covid Vaccine – Update

Covid Vaccine – Update

Progress with the Covid vaccination programme so far in Tewkesbury has been extremely good and Gloucestershire is one of the leading counties in the country for the roll out.

So far we have given 1st doses to over 2500 patients at The Devereux Centre,  across the 4 surgeries in our Primary Care Network group.  This includes; nursing home patients, the majority of over 80’s, care workers and NHS frontline staff.

We would like to thank everyone that has attended and for all the wonderful comments we have received on social media.

A couple of points to note…

  • Any over 80’s that we have been unable to get hold of for this round of appointments will be picked up in the next round. Please do not worry if a family member who is over 80 has not yet been vaccinated, we will be continually monitoring this to ensure that no one is missed out.
  • Due to the number of vaccines we receive each time it will not be possible to vaccinate the entire age bracket in one go, so do not be concerned if you receive your vaccine invitation at a different time to someone else in your age group.
  • Invitations to come and have your vaccination are currently being done over the telephone, so please ensure you and your loved ones phone numbers are up to date with the surgery by using the link above this post.
  • Due to the need to roll the vaccination programme out as quickly as possible, we trialled during this week’s clinics increasing the number of patients we saw per hour. We recognise that this caused some issues with social distancing in the waiting room and this was unfortunately compounded by some patients arriving over 30 minutes early for their appointment. In light of this and the feedback we have received, which we are very grateful for, we have revised our processes to reduce the numbers per hour to increase patient safety.
  • Following on from the above point can we politely ask that anyone attending the surgery for their Covid vaccination please stick to their designated time slot as closely as possible.
  • Finally, we would just like to say that the vaccine delivery schedules are changing by the day, so please bear with us as we are continually trying to adapt our plans accordingly.

Thank you all once again for your continued patience and support, we really do appreciate it.
