Update to Practice Services at The Devereux Centre

Mythe Medical Practice and Church Street Medical meet weekly to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic and how we manage patient and staff safety at The Devereux Centre.  We have, of course, been working under “total triage” through the lockdown which means that patients are allowed access to The Devereux Centre once they have been assessed by a member of the clinical team over the telephone.  This has allowed us to :

  • Keep all staff safe and free from COVID-19 infection
  • Offer face to face appointments for problems that cannot be dealt with via telephone or video consultation
  • Continue offering regular vaccinations, immunisations and other injections

As Lockdown has eased we are gradually increasing our services such as minor operations, cervical cytology etc.  Face to face consultations with doctors and nurses are kept within recommended time frames i.e. no more than 15 minutes and surface cleaning is carried out between patients.

We know that the virus is still circulating and therefore we continue to follow best practice guidelines to minimise the risk of further increase going forward.  For this reason we have agreed to continue the current regime of triaging patients.

Appointments can be made over the telephone. Prescriptions can be ordered online, by arrangement with your chosen pharmacist or by posting your repeat prescription request in the practice post box to the right of Lloyds Pharmacy and queries can be dealt with by our Patient Care Navigation staff by telephone or by using the practice website.

Therefore, please do not come to the surgery without first being triaged and use the above forms of communication for making appointments, arranging repeat prescriptions and  minor queries.

If you are asked to come to The Devereux Centre, please first use the intercom to the right of the front door, to request access.  Please wait to enter the building until you have spoken to a Receptionist on the intercom, even if the doors have opened for the previous patient to enter or exit the building.

During October we will be carrying out our annual Flu Clinics about which you will already  have seen information on Facebook, our website and invitation to eligible patients.  On Mondays and Thursdays during the month, staff will be on hand to steer patients through the building as quickly and effectively as possible to reduce the risk of infection.

We are very grateful to our patients for their understanding and willingness to work with us during this challenging time.

Please help us to help you stay safe and avoid infection.
